Dr Stephen Mann

Male

Dr Mann qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1986. He is the Senior Partner at Lion Health, with an interest in all areas of General Practice. He is also an active member of the Stourbridge Rugby Club.

Dr Heidi Kerr 

Female

Dr Heidi Kerr, originally from Belfast, trained at Birmingham Medical School, graduating in 1997. She completed her GP training in Worcestershire. She has an interest in diabetes management in primary care, women’s health and is a GP trainer.

Dr Simon Carvell

Male

Qualified Birmingham 1994. A Member of the Royal College of GPs since 1994. Also a member of the Emma’s Diary editorial board, and contributor to Shropshire Review magazine.

Dr Victoria Hobbs

Female

Dr Hobbs trained at The University of Birmingham and qualified in 2000. She joined the practice in 2005 and during her time at Lion Health she has developed a specialist interest in Women’s and Sexual Health.

Dr Richard Evans

Male

Dr Evans is local to Stourbridge, growing up in the area before going to Liverpool Medical School and graduating in 2009. He returned for GP training in the Black Country, which he completed in August 2014, having spent his final 12 months of training at Worcester Street Surgery. He is currently starting to establish his areas of special interest in medical education and palliative care.

Dr Lisa Jones

Female

Dr Jones qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 2006, then went on to do her GP training in North Worcestershire. She started work at Worcester Street Surgery in 2011. She has interests in all aspects of gynaecology; including family planning, and discusses cases weekly at our gynae triage meetings at the surgery. She fits coils and implants as part of a family planning clinic in-house, and also enjoys teaching medical students and registrars we have at the surgery.

Dr Michael Wilcox

Dr Wilcox proudly graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2011 to be added to the GP register. He became a partner in 2022.

Salaried Doctors

Dr John Woolley

Male

Qualified in 2004 from University of Birmingham, I was a medical student at the practice in 2002, did my GP training in the Dudley area before before coming back to work as a salaried GP in 2009. I became a partner in 2010. Specialist areas of interest include all aspects of cardiovascular medicine.

Dr Clare Simpson

Female

Dr Simpson has worked at Lion Health since she completed her General Practice training in August 2012. She works as a full time salaried GP, doing a total of eight clinical sessions a week. She has a particular interest in Medical Education, this involves teaching Medical Students from The University Of Birmingham approximately one day a fortnight. Additionally, Dr Simpson has an interest Women’s Health and Family Planning, regularly attending the weekly Gynaecology Meetings. Furthermore, she plays an active role in Hypertension Clinics.

Dr Samantha Radstone

Female

Dr Radstone graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 2004 and qualified as a GP in January 2010. She joined Worcester Street/Lion Health in August 2013. She has an interest in Child Health and medical education. Outside of the surgery, she is a Major in the Army Reserves and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 as a medical officer.

Dr Varma graduated from the University of London in 1993, and has a special interest in dermatology.

Dr Rebecca Blow

Dr Blow graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011

Dr Gemma Plant

Female

Dr Plant grew up in the Stourbridge area and graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 2013. She completed her GP training in Sandwell and joined Lion Health in August 2018.

Dr Katy Kyprianou

Female

Brought up in Cyprus. Graduated University of Birmingham Medical School in 2014. Completed GP training and joined RCGP in 2019. Has a special interest in migraines/headaches. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking and Latin dancing.

Dr Khadija Butt

Female

Dr Butt graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2008, and completed her GP training in the Black Country.

Dr Sarah Cousins

Female

Dr Cousins completed her Medical Degree at the University of Birmingham in 2010. After completing her GP training in the Black Country in 2015, she has worked locally as a GP before joining Lion Health in July 2022. Dr Cousins has an interest in palliative care, and in supporting other doctors, working as a mentor and appraiser amongst other roles.

Dr Claire Learoyd

Dr Learoyd graduated from Birmingham University in 2001 and joined the team at Lion Health as a Salaried GP in 2022. In her spare time Dr Learoyd enjoys yoga, aerobics and dog walking.

Dr Kate Lowe

Female

Having graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2011, I returned home to the Black Country and after several years working in anaesthetics, I completed the general practice training scheme in 2020. I do joint injections, and enjoy participating in the education of the next generation of GPs. 

Dr Lucy Verrinder

MBChB, MRCGP, DGM, pursuing DFRSH. I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2016 and completed my GP training in south central Birmingham, developing a specialist interest in Elderly Care. I joined Lion Health in June 2023 and am pursing my interest in family planning and women’s health.

Dr Paul Farley

Male

I qualified in 1991 at University College and Middlesex Hospital, London, having intercalated in Psychology. I then moved to the Midlands and joined the Dudley GP Training Scheme in 1992, then joined Worcester Street Surgery on completion of the training programme in 1995. Further qualifications included DRCOG, MRCGP, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2019. I have always had an interest in medical education, achieving a Postgraduate Award in Medical Education in 2006 to support my teaching commitment at Birmingham University. I have been an Honorary Clinical Tutor since 2004 and still continue in that role. I retired from General Practice in 2022, but continue with my educational and GP Appraiser commitments.
